- Own Your impact

Your retreat begins right when you say yes

September 9, 2026

LISA PEPPER-SATKIN

Radical self-care is coming home to yourself.

September is my Own Your Radical Self-Care month. And this year, I am beginning it in a very personal way.

I realized something recently:

My Own Your Brilliance Retreat has already begun.

Yes, we officially gather October 8–11.

But I do not want to wait until I arrive at the retreat to start giving myself what I need.

So I am starting now.

I am doing a digital detox. I am taking a break from sugar and alcohol.

And maybe most importantly, I am crafting a whole new evening routine.

Because evenings are one of those times when it can be so easy to check out.

Scroll. Snack. Pour a glass of wine. Watch something. Keep consuming.

I want something different right now.

I want to tune in instead of numb out.

I want my evenings to help me come back to myself.

More quiet. More writing. More reading. More creativity. More listening to what my body wants. More space to hear myself think and feel.

Not because I am trying to be good. Because I want to feel lighter, brighter, clearer and more connected to myself.

And as I was thinking about all of this, I sat down and wrote some intentions:

Instead of zoning out, I am tuning in.

Instead of feeding my grief and loss, I am healing with words of affirmation.

Instead of comparing myself to social media influencers, I am embracing my wisdom and claiming my enoughness.

Instead of trying to gain more followers, I am impacting the lives that want to be impacted.

Instead of caring so much about what others say, I am writing more of what I want to say.

When I looked at that page, I could see the bigger theme running through all of it.

Radical self-care is coming home to yourself.

It is paying attention to what you consume. Not just food and drinks, but screens, messages, opinions and noise.

It is honoring your own wisdom instead of measuring yourself against someone else’s visibility.

It is valuing the people who are already listening instead of chasing numbers.

It is writing what you actually want to say.

It is creating enough space to hear your own voice again.

And perhaps my favorite line on my page is: I am claiming my wisdom.

There is something powerful about that for me right now.

At this point in my life, I want to own the wisdom that comes from living, loving, grieving, leading, parenting, creating, getting things wrong, beginning again and paying attention.

I do not want to treat aging as something to manage.

I want to treat experience as something to own.

And THAT is what Own Your Brilliance has always been about.

The retreat does not begin when you pull into the driveway.

It begins when you say yes to yourself.

It begins when you decide you are worthy of the space.

It begins when you start making choices today that support how you want to feel when you arrive.

So my retreat is beginning early this year.

I am already preparing myself from the inside out.

And if you are coming, I invite you to begin too.

Ask yourself: How do I want to feel when I arrive?

And then: What can I give myself today that moves me toward that feeling?

And if you have been thinking about joining us, there is one spot left.

Maybe saying yes to the retreat could be the beginning of your retreat too.

Four days to reconnect with your wisdom, your creativity, your body and the brilliant woman who has been there all along.
